Teaching Practice - Phase 1(8th week)

8th week.... Thinking of the fact that only two weeks more made me little emotional today... Was thinking about how days passed.... Had optional observation today, but no period. Also the topic was construction of squares, and the children didn't brought geometry boxes, so the class was little difficult. As the christmas exams were approaching there wasn't any substitition hours.

Today a program was conducted by the health department, to spread awareness on AIDS. It was done through kathaaprasangam during morning. The program was conducted for the whole school and everyone were made to watch. It was interesting, but I felt that the children were not easily getting the idea. We explained them as we could. It was done by the Health officer Thanneermukkam Sadhashivan and his colleagues.

Went for substitution in 9 D. It was good experience that they were treating me as one among them and interacting with me. Thats what i always wanted as a teacher. To be with my children and be their friend.  I am really enjoying it. They always greet me outside the class, whenever they see me and come to me and talk. Went for peer observation of physics class by Reshma.

November 14-Childrens day. Morning itself assembly was conducted for celebrating the day and a speech was presented by a student explaining the importance of the day. Later a rally was done by the students carrying pluckards from school to the nearby junction. Later sweets were distributed to the children. We also got the sweets. Due to the program didn't got class today.

Conducted achievement test today. Many of them were with excused that they dont have paper, pen etc .. But i insisted to conduct exam and gave prepared question papers to them and also necessary time. A child didnt brought even a pen with him, and since he is naughty and arrogant I sent him to the HM's office. But later when a higher secondary sir talked to him, I came to know about his circumstances and the background he is from. I felt so sorry for him. At the evening, football match was conducted in school between each divisions of 8 and 9. Children were so excited for the match.
